About Tamraght Insider
A handbook started by someone who came for the waves and stayed for the people.
In short. I’ve been working online for about 13 years, and Tamraght is the place I keep coming back to. This site is everything I wish someone had told me in my first week here.
How it started
I came for the surf. For me it’s the best place to surf near Europe: same time zone as my work, and better, more constant conditions.
I was lucky to land at Kasbari House. They took me in really well. I got talking to Anis, he connected me with the right digital nomads, and straight away there was a real sense of community. I’m still friends with them today.
They helped me with my first taxi. From there I did it myself: different drivers, different prices, different levels. Bit by bit I got to know the whole of Tamraght.
Why I keep coming back
Once I arrived, I fell in love with the people and the vibe, and I just stayed. Now I come every three months or so and stay for about two months, surfing, working and living at a chill pace.
The people here are just lovely, and there are great people building cool things. That’s what makes it work for me. You get a great life with the surf, without losing yourself in the travelling nomad scene, because the people around you are building things too. It’s not far from my work mode or my creator mode.
I’m not an expert on everything. Some people have been here a lot longer and know more than me. But I’m friends with a lot of them, so if I don’t know, I usually know who does.
What I wish I’d known
Get a scooter. I walk a lot, and the hills are great, but a scooter gives you a freedom nothing else can. No taxi will take you surfing at 6 in the morning, and when you’re bored and need some fresh air, you’re on the beach in five minutes. That one is priceless. I wish I’d had one earlier. Find a good desk. I wish I’d known Amsiln Studio earlier. It’s a really good place to focus.
Why I do this
I’m doing this for the recommendations. If you like what I say and it gives you value, I’ll try to find you the best prices and help as much as I can. Every page here is meant to save you time and effort, so you can land, settle in and enjoy the place. And when visitors know where to go, their money goes to the local people doing good work.
