Tamraght for Digital Nomads

Tamraght is a small surf village twelve kilometres north of Agadir. It is not a startup hub and does not pretend to be; there is very little to do except work and surf, which is exactly why it works as a base for builders, founders, and operators who need to ship.

What it costs

Will the wifi hold?

At a dedicated coworking space, yes: fibre around 200 Mbps. In apartments and cafes it is patchier and drops in the evenings. Carry a Maroc Telecom data SIM as a hotspot backup. Real 5G has not reached the village yet, and short power or wifi outages happen. Plan calls accordingly.

Does Morocco have a digital nomad visa?

No. There is no operational digital-nomad visa as of mid-2026, whatever older posts claim; verify with a consulate. What you get instead: most passports (US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia and many more) receive 90 days visa-free on arrival. The caveats

• Cash economy. ATMs are scarce in the villages; stock up in Agadir or Taghazout and carry cash.
• Community. The Taghazout & Tamraght Nomads Facebook group (16k+) and the coliving spaces are where the social life is. Average stay is about three weeks; it can feel small after a month if you do not surf.
• Know before you come. Morocco criminalises same-sex relationships, so LGBTQ+ travellers should weigh that. Solo women generally rate it “okay” rather than carefree; judge for yourself. The roads to Agadir are busy with trucks.
