Where to Stay in Tamraght

Surf camp, guesthouse, your own flat, or a five-star down the road: how to choose, what each costs in dirham, and where regulars actually book.

Before you pick a room, pick a village: Tamraght or Taghazout. Tamraght is the quieter one, more lived-in, with cheaper rents, fewer restaurants and fewer reasons to stop working. Taghazout, 4 km north, has more cafes, more coworking and more noise. Most people who come here to work base themselves in Tamraght and go up when they want company. We compare the two side by side here.

Surf camps and coliving (all-in)

This is the easy option for week one. A weekly package (room, half board, lessons, airport transfer) costs roughly €315-730, depending on how nice the room is. Easy Surf Maroc keeps getting praise for its food and its vibe. Solid Surf House has a pool. If you’re here to work more than surf, coliving fits better: Nomadico (Tamraght, rooftop coworking, around €470/month shared), Kasbari House (coworking included, around €300/month), and The Offsite (Sept-April only, €26-39/night). Whole houses for groups exist too. You negotiate them the same way, and they’re rare enough that they mostly go by word of mouth. You won’t find the cheap flats and houses online. You find them through the Taghazout & Tamraght Nomads Facebook group and local agents (expect a finder fee of roughly 500 MAD when you sign). Airbnb in Tamraght: good for a start, not for a stay

Airbnb costs two to four times local rents, so use it as a base while you look around, not as your home. It’s fine for your first two to four weeks while you walk the village and see flats in person, and expensive after that. Most listings are renovated apartments, plus the odd riad-style guesthouse. Book something central so you can walk to the viewings.

Guesthouses and surf houses, month by month

The in-between option: a room in a guesthouse or surf house, with breakfast and a desk, paid monthly. Good if you want people around without the camp schedule, and it’s where most of the village’s riad-style stays are. You agree the price with the owner, and it usually lands between a camp week and a bare flat.

Hotels: the five-star strip next door

There are no chain hotels in Tamraght village, and that’s a big part of its charm. But the Taghazout Bay resort zone sits right between Tamraght and Taghazout: Fairmont, Hilton, Hyatt and Radisson Blu, some of them a 10 to 20 minute walk from the village. If you want resort comfort and village surf, that’s your answer. You can sleep at a five-star and still take your surf lessons at Crocos. Everyone else stays in the village and spends the difference on extra months, not fancy nights.

Sign before the season. Surf high season is October-April. That’s when flats get pricier and landlords would rather rent to surfers by the week. If you sign a monthly lease over winter, get it in writing that it covers your whole stay. June-August is the cheapest, the hottest and the flattest.

What regulars actually do

Book a camp or an Airbnb for the first week. Join the Facebook group. Walk the village, ask at the cafes and at your coworking space, and sign for a monthly flat once you’ve seen it. Then sort out getting from Agadir airport to Tamraght and read Before You Land.

No chain hotels in the village itself. Tamraght runs on guesthouses, surf houses and camps. The five-star resorts of Taghazout Bay (Fairmont, Hilton, Hyatt, Radisson Blu) sit between Tamraght and Taghazout, some a 10 to 20 minute walk from the village.

Are there cheap monthly apartments in Tamraght?

Yes. Local studios go for about 2,500 to 3,500 MAD a month (225 to 320 EUR), and one-beds for 3,500 to 5,000 MAD. You find the cheapest ones through local Facebook groups and agents, not on Airbnb.
