Is Tamraght Safe?

Short answer: yes. Tamraght is a small, relaxed surf village with low crime and a visitor and nomad scene that’s been here for years. You get far less hassle than in the big medinas of Marrakech or Fes. Here’s the detail.

What to actually watch in Tamraght

Taxis. The main “scam” is overcharging. Agree the fare before you get in and that fixes 90 percent of it. I learned the prices driver by driver, so you don’t have to: the going rates are in taxis from Agadir airport to Tamraght.
Solo women. Generally fine, and lots of solo women stay here happily, but expect some male attention. Most rate it “okay” rather than carefree. Trust your judgement, especially at night.
Nights. The village is quiet and easy to walk. Stick to lit areas, like you would anywhere.
Roads. The coast road to Agadir has fast truck traffic. The real daily risk here is traffic, not crime, whether you’re on a scooter or on foot.
Cash. It’s a cash economy (the ATMs are on our map). Carry what you need and don’t flash it.

One thing to know before you come

Morocco criminalises same-sex relationships, so LGBTQ+ travellers should weigh that. It rarely touches day-to-day visitor life in a surf town, but that is the law as it stands today.
