Every cash machine we know of in Tamraght, on one map, plus the nearest ones in Aourir and Taghazout and how to get dirham when you land.
Updated 12 October 2026
The short version. Tamraght has about seven ATMs, most of them along the main road (N1) and Rue de la Jeunesse. When you find one that works, take out enough for a few days. Always choose to be charged in dirham, expect a fee of around 35 MAD, and up to 2,000 MAD per withdrawal.
Tamraght runs on cash. Your cafe, your landlord and your taxi all want dirham, so knowing where the machines are saves you a walk in the sun. We mapped every ATM we could find and are checking each one on the ground. Where the bank is not confirmed yet, we say so.

Changing money in Tamraght
There are two exchange desks in Tamraght and one in Aourir. Every exchange desk in Morocco works within limits set by the central bank, so rates are close, but compare the boards and keep your slips. You need them to change dirham back when you leave.
Fees, limits and the one setting that matters
- Choose dirham. When the ATM offers to charge you in euros or pounds, say no and pick MAD. Their conversion is the expensive one.
- The fee. Most machines charge foreign cards around 35 MAD and show it on screen before you confirm.
- The limit. Usually up to 2,000 MAD per withdrawal. Some banks allow more.
- Your own bank. Check what your card charges abroad before you fly. A card with no foreign fees makes a real difference over a month.
Getting cash when you land
You cannot buy dirham before you fly, because it is a closed currency. At Agadir airport there are ATMs in the arrivals hall, after customs, and the exchange desks there give a few percent less than in town. Take enough for the taxi and your first day, and do the rest here. More in Before You Land.
